Margaritologia, a newsletter by Elizabeth Strack, is dedicated to the knowledge of pearls and seeks to cover all aspects of natural and cultured pearls, from natural science to history and new develpments, pearl farming, pearl grading, testing procedures, price information and market situation. The author aims at creating a forum for sharing her own observations with a worldwide circle of pearl enthusiasts.
The first issue focuses on cultured pearls from Vietnam where the author visited pearl farms, and on pearl topics at the last International Gemmological Conference in Hanoi. Further topics are Spondylus pearls, DNA fingerprinting of pearls, a Mikimoto "3.5 Momme" necklace, and an exhibition at the Schwerin museum in Mecklenburg, German.
Margaritologia will be published four times a year in both German and English. The yearly subscription rate is €70.
