Logo Use
Beginning 2025, the CGA members can now use the CGA member / credential logo on their business cards and websites or other digital platforms. The CGA has logos for Fellows, Associates and General member categories. Members can contact the office to obtain a downloadable version of the logo as per their category.
The Canadian Gemmological Association (CGA) logo is a registered trademark and may only be used by active members in good standing. Use of the logo must reflect the high ethical and professional standards upheld by the CGA and should not imply endorsement or certification beyond what is formally granted. Members may display the logo on business cards, websites, and promotional materials only in a manner that does not mislead the public or misrepresent their qualifications. Any unauthorized or inappropriate use of the CGA logo may result in disciplinary action, including suspension of membership privileges.

Logo Use – Guidelines
Founded in 1958, The Canadian Gemmological Association is a reputed professional organization that has set the standard for excellence in the science and study of gemmology in Canada. Our logo embodies our heritage, history and branding and is the intellectual property of the CGA.
Only the CGA is authorized to use the CGA logo. We are extremely cautious when authorizing the use of our logo because it can have legal repercussions and give the appearance that we support or favour other businesses or partners and their products.
The CGA has created special logos for our members and affiliates (Fellow, Associate and General), corporate members and educational partners so that they can be easily identified as such.
Before you use the official CGA Individual logo, please make sure you abide by the following guidelines:
• Adhere to strictly to our guidelines as our Logo represents our brand.
• The member logo should not be rotated, stretched, redesigned, or changed in any other manner. It may only be used in the exact format that it was provided in.
• Individual elements of the logo cannot be altered or used separately.
• Elements of the logo cannot be repositioned.
• Elements or the logo cannot be rotated in any way.
• Use the appropriate logo pertaining to your membership status (Fellow, Associate, General or Corporate).
•The logo shouldn’t be placed in a prominent area. Your company / corporate logo should be more prominent and easily visible. If you are utilizing the logo on documents related to a business, it shouldn’t be bigger than your personal information; you must follow the specified sizing specifications.
• The member logo may be used on marketing materials, social media platforms, business cards, and the company website.
• The CGA prohibits using the CGA logo on laboratory certificates, appraisal/valuation documentation, products, or product packaging.
• Use of the logo may in no way directly or indirectly imply that the CGA certifies, sponsors, approves, or endorses a private business, employee, product, service, or price.
• Use of logo may in no way imply partnership, accreditation, or association with the business or individual member unless the member association or institution is a registered partner and is authorized by the CGA for such a use of the logo.
• The logo may not be included on any appraisal or gemmological grading report.
• The position or the appearance of the logo should not be in a way that is misleading and misrepresents the member status with the CGA. No misleading or false impression may be created using the logo with respect to the relationship of the individual with the CGA.
What is the appropriate way to use the logo?
The member logo can be used on your business card provided:
• Your name and contact information also appear on the card.
• Your company’s name and logo are more prominent and larger than the CGA logo as per the instructions above.
• The Logo does not exceed 15mm in size.
The member logo can be added to your website or marketing materials provided:
• Your own company logo is the prominent and immediately visible logo on the website.
• The logo does not exceed 35mm in size.
• You follow all the basic rules outlined above.
Clarity and consistency rules:
• Use of the appropriate logo. The logo must be recognizable and clearly visible.
• The logo must have sufficient clear space around it to separate it from the rest of the imagery to make it clearly visible.
• Avoid cropping the logo or elements of the logo.
• Avoid distorting or stretching the logo to adhere to the no alteration rule.
• No element of the logo may be used to create a patterned background.
• The logo should not be diluted in any manner which would reduce visibility or recognition.
