Sixth Emerging Artist Design Competition – Now Open!!

We are looking for extraordinary talent!!

The Canadian Gemmological Association (CGA) is excited to announce our 6th annual Emerging Artist Design Competition. This competition is open to all students currently enrolled in a Canadian post-secondary jewellery design or metalsmithing program, and new grads who have graduated from these programs in 2023 or will graduate in 2024.

Gemmology Basics Theory Course

When: TBA
Schedule:
1-night a week for 12 weeks
Fees: $1,795.00
Place:  Classes held over Live and Interactive Zoom

The sessions will be live and interactive over zoom. Discussions and Q&As are encouraged for a more interactive learning. Participants will receive a statement of completion.

Gemmology Basics is for the person who is launching their career into the world of  jewellery or gem trading or who just wants to learn more about basic Gemmology.

Accelerated Professional Gemmology

When: May 21, 2024 – August 28, 2024
Time:   10:00 am – 5:00 pm
Where: Vancouver, BC

Become a qualified gemmologist in approx. 4 months. This course with be held in class in the Vancouver classroom.

Explore The Diverse World Of Quartz! Quartz is found in most parts of the world, it has an amazing range of colours, textures, and varieties. As a gem, it is used in jewels from the most prestigious ornaments of royalty to utilitarian of jewels for regular people. Once thought to be deeply and permanently frozen water crystals, quartz has a long history of ornamental use. People have enhanced quartz for thousands of years. and synthesized quartz for more than a century. We will explore a few of the factors that make quartz so central to our world. Join us as Duncan Parker talks about Quartz in his upcoming webinar on Wednesday, May 22, 2024.

Fellowship Exams

Date: June 17, 18 & 19, 2024

Students who have completed the CGA’s professional gemmology program and wish to earn credentials that demonstrate their mastery of the field of gemmology are invited to write the CGA Fellowship Qualifying Examinations. FCGmA (Fellow of the Canadian Gemmological Association) credentials are recognized by organizations around the world.
