CGA Vaccination Policy
1. Policy Statement:
1.1 To protect the health and safety of the Canadian Gemmological Association Community (CGA) against Covid-19, especially the Delta variant which is more contagious, we are requiring that all staff, students, clients and contractors be vaccinated as a condition to come on campus.
1.2 Everyone must wear a mask 100% of the time when on CGA property is mandatory, regardless of vaccination status.
1.3 This CGA policy will continue to be subject to federal, provincial and local public health regulations related to the Covid-19 pandemic.
2. Accepted Vaccines:
2.1 The CGA will accept the Covid-19 vaccines approved by Health Canada.
2.2 Individuals who have been vaccinated with a vaccine other than those approved by Health Canada will not be allowed on campus until 14 days after receiving their approved completed dose.
2.3 One or two doses of a Covid-19 vaccine not authorized by Health Canada, followed by one dose of a COVID-19 mRNA vaccine authorized by Heath Canada.
2.4 Three doses of a Covid-19 vaccine not authorized by Health Canada and
2.5 They received their final dose of the Covid-19 vaccine at least 14 days ago.
3. Proof Of Covid-19 Vaccination:
3.1 Individuals coming to the CGA campus will be required to provide proof of having been fully vaccinated with an accepted vaccine or of having the first dose of a two-dose vaccine.
3.2 Proof of completing an educational session approved by the CGA about the benefits of Covid-19 vaccination prior to declining vaccination for any reason other than a medical reason must be produced. You will also be subject to subsections 5.2 and/or 5.3.
3.4 Individuals’ private health information will not be disclosed alongside any other identifying data.
3.5 Individuals who make false attestations about, or provide false documents related to, being vaccinated may be subject to disciplinary actions.
4.1 The CGA will consider on an individual basis requests from students and staff for exemptions on medical grounds and/or because of their religion.
4.2 Medical exemptions should come from a licensed physician or nurse practitioners and state if the exemption is temporary or permanent.
4.3 Exemptions will not be extended to contractors, visitors and/or any other attendees.
5. Clients, Contractors, Visitors, and/or Other Attendees:
5.1 Clients, staff and students who choose not to be fully vaccinated will not be allowed on the CGA campus to attend classes or teach, unless subsections 3.1, 4.1 and/or 5.2 and/or 5.3 can be produced.
5.2 For staff, students, clients, long term contractors, long term visitors and/or other long term attendees of The CGA that is not vaccinated; The CGA requires that you must produce a negative Antigen Covid-19 tests every 7 days before coming onto the CGA property. You will also be subject to subsection 5.4.
5.3 For staff, students, clients, long term contractors, long term visitors and/or other long term attendees of The CGA that is not vaccinated; The CGA requires that you must produce a negative Covid-19 test prior to 48 hours of coming onto the CGA property. You will also be subject to subjection to 5.4.
5.4 For staff, students, clients, long term contractors, long term visitors and /or other long term attendees of the CGA that is waiting on a Covid-19 test or vaccination, masking is mandatory
Some Definitions of Policy Wording:
Canadian Gemmological Association
A Covid-19 vaccine that has been approved for use by Health Canada and/or the World Health Organization
Grounds to be exempt from getting a Covid-19 vaccine based on an established, personally held religion.
Clients, Staff or Students:
An individual or company that comes on campus to access educational services provided by The Canadian Gemmological Association.
An individual or company that is not a member of the CGA that provides outside services at the CGA.
Having received the completed series of an accepted Covid-19 vaccine. You are considered fully vaccinated 14 days after receiving your completed dose.
Grounds to be exempt from getting a Covid-19 vaccine based on the risk of substantive injury and/or disability.
Proof of Vaccination:
Proof of vaccination, in the form of an official dose administration receipts is required by all individuals coming on campus.
Visitor / Any Other Attendee:
An individual or company that is not a student or CGA staff member.
