Vocational Courses

Vocational courses are post-secondary programs approved under Ontario Career Colleges Act 2005. Enrolment contracts, refund policies, admission requirements and documentation are regulated under the Act.

  1. All applicants are requested to contact the office or attend an open house session before submitting payment.
  2. Download the applicable registration form and complete. Sign in all places indicated.
    This is an Adobe filable form and can be completed on your computer and saved under a new name using the free Adobe Reader application. “Typewritten” signatures are not accepted, even if embedded in an Adobe digital signature.
  3. Download the Career College Student Rights and the Student Complaint & Expulsion policy, and Sexual Harassment policy documentation from the table above. Read, and acknowledge receipt by ticking the boxes on your enrolment form. The Fee Refund Policy is imbeded in the enrolment contract.
  4. Attach proof of Ontario high school graduation or equivalent in any of the following forms:
    1. a copy of your Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or official transcript
    2. documentation demonstrating a post-secondary degree in Canada or the USA
    3. secondary school diplomas from other Canadian provinces and from high schools in the USA are accepted as equivalent to the OSSD.
    4. Prospective students who have completed high school outside Canada or the US should contact the CGA office. Credentials issued in languages other than English require an official translation into English.
    5. Candidates who do not meet the OSSD or equivalent criteria may be required to pass a separate admission test.
  5. Submit forms by any of the following methods:
    1.  email forms that have been completed on the computer and digitally signed,
    2.  scan or take a photo and email forms completed manually
    3.  fax forms to the fax number on the form
    4.  print and mail the form to the address indicated on the enrolment form
  6. Submit payment. (Call or email the office to notify when it should be expected).
    1. Acceptable forms are VISA, Mastercard or PayPal through the CGA online store, or personal cheque, bank draft or money order.
    2. Cash is NOT accepted for payments greater than $250.
    3. If paying by cheque and the cheque is returned NSF you will be charged a $50.00 NSF charge.

Short Courses

These offerings are classed as non-vocational and include two types of instruction:

1.  Short introductory “general interest” courses covering various aspects of gems and jewellery; there are no prerequisites.
2. Please note that all the current prices for classes and tools are on the current registration forms.  Please download a current registration form if you wish to register in any of General Interest Courses.  Old forms will no longer be accepted.
3. Professional-development courses for those who already have recognized gemmological credentials, or are already working in the gem and jewellery sector.

Please note price increase in some of the tools as of July 1, 2022. 
Old forms with old prices will not be accepted beyond this date.  All current registration forms will only be accepted with the current date and prices on them.

    2. a reference letter demonstrating at least two years work experience in the gem and jewellery business

    2.  scan or take a photo and email forms completed manually
    3.  fax forms to the fax number on the form
    4.  print and mail the form to the address indicated on the enrolment form
  4. Submit payment. (Call or email the office to notify of pending payment).
