The Canadian Gemmological Association Scholarships
The CGA has over the years supported and recognized excellence in students dedicated to learning in the field of gemmology. This year, the winners for our 3 Award Categories are:
![]() CGA Academic Award. Awarded to a student with an exceptional
Grade Point Average (GPA over 3.5) in their first semester of the
F105 Gemmology program.
Value: $500 voucher towards CGA preliminary exam.
The winner of highest grade in 2025 was Zach Montagnese.(GBC)

CGA Achievement Award. Awarded to a student who has shown
considerable improvement in their performance between semester 1
and semester 2 of the F105 Gemmology program.
Value: $500 voucher towards CGA preliminary exam.
The 2025 CGA Achievement Award was awarded to Danielle Tsivian.

CGA Lifelong Learning Award. Given to a mature student in the
F105 program who has embarked on gemmology learning as a
second career.
Value: $500 voucher towards CGA preliminary exam.

This biennial award has been created to bring attention to those who have made significant contributions through influence and support to Canadian Gemmology.

Mr. Alan Hodgkinson is the 2018 winner of the inaugural Diamond Award.

The Canadian Gemmological Association announces our 7th Emerging Artist Design Competition winners.

Farah Kathrada, a recent graduate of George Brown College, Toronto, ON, placed first in our Seventh Jewellery Design Contest. Her winning design was a ring entitled “Glitch Ring”. Photo Credit – Digital By Design

Xiaoduo (Jessica) Li, who is still a student from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, Halifax, NS, took home the second prize for her necklace called “Boundless.”

Michael Starnino is also a recent graduate from George Brown College in Toronto, ON. Michael took third place with his ring titled “San Carlo”.

This year’s honourable mention goes to Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, Halifax, NS, student Kai Shen, for his pair of glasses “xxixx”.
